Science Force is a PTA run program staffed entirely by parent volunteers where the students do hands-on science experiments. Each class attends 3 times per year for 1-2 hours each time. 4 parent volunteers are needed from each class to assist the students at each of the stations. Without these 4 volunteers per class, Science Force would not be possible. No experience or knowledge of the subject is required as all information is provided when you arrive. Please use the link below to sign up for your child’s class or to be an emergency volunteer for other classes. Labs are based on the curriculum for each grade level. Subjects include: oceanography, space, matter, electricity, living things, simple machines, fossils, light & sound, magnetism, etc…. Science Force is located in the portable at the back of the school near the gym. Parents need to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the start of the lab to learn their station. We have had many parents in the past who were hesitant to come due to their lack of science background. They only needed to volunteer once to find out how easy it really is. Your kids will love seeing you there.
Many volunteers per year are needed to sustain Science Force. Science Force supplies are purchased by your PTA $$. The average cost of Science Force is about 67 cents per student per lab. This is only possible with your volunteer efforts.
